Fingers crossed for tonight, im hoping for a 30th April/1st May 2005 setup to happen as its not worlds apart from it, i remember the day had been rather hazy with a lot of cloud and scraped 20c (like today) and then some spectacular lightning storms moved up from the south around 2/3am.

Just subscribed to NW Extra Radar for a month in anticipation of the weekend's events to come (Not really a fan of thunder infact I am rather petrified of storms if the truth be known) but this will help me to prepare

same here , was beginning to feel lonely around here

going to be a terrible couple of days for me I think whether I see a storm or not

Fingers crossed they make it across the channel to us. Its been years since a decent storm!

I would say more than likely....They're likely to be elevated in nature, thus the channel will have negligable effect IMO....I'm plumping for an MCS to trundle through the heart of England overnight tonight, lots of mid-level instability thus elevated storms, with a nocturnal cooling effect reinvigorating overnight storms over land when factoring in the strengthening lower jet....If an MCS does develop, then hopefully, it will depart our shores readily early tomorrow morning so as to not leave crud and detritus which would otherwise hamper convection tomorrow

Why are net weather worried about the amount of rain that will fall in the South east? I live in North surrey near the borders of Berkshire and I can't see anything hitting us ? ?

Maybe the wording needs updating as the worry is about the lack of rain, not the amount!

Yeah it was a stange quote by them, I think they meant worried as in lack of rainfall, because their outlook seems to favour more rainfall further west with more CAPE there also, although the risk of rain for all parts of the country is there until sunday evening so it's touch and go how much we recieve :cc_confused:

Blitzortung is good if you use the areas option on the lower left, not so good for individual strikes.

The clouds dissolving in the south now which is a good sign, still cloudy here but the sun is breaking through the haze at times.

Dammit! It's just gone down to 6%.

This isn't fair.

I wouldn't worry Lauren, the percentages will go up and down more times than a brides nightie..!! The position of the low out in the Atlantic and the position of the Euro High only need to move 50- 100 mile this way or 50-100 mile that and this will make a big difference where Td's will occur...
