Quite a bit of dust in the air around here. Evident by a brilliant yellow lightning illumination (only one I've seen in the past 30 mins.) Got a bit gusty in the precip core aswell with what looked to be a roll-cloud moving North. But may have just been arrival of the CB itself. Difficult to say at night and no lightning around.

I can't believe this cluster of clouds where I am have not electrified yet based on the intensity of the rain and wind in the one that just passed over me, sooner or later something has to give..

Nothing electrical here Tim as it passed over, just lightning a long way off to the west, from the same band, but over Liverpool way.

A few thunderstorms now knocking about to the SE here, can see quite frequent lightning to my southeast.

Just seen a bit of lightning out of the window, followed by thunder a moderate time later.

Heavy rain now as well.

I hope so.

I'm looking at that big blob near Oxford. Will it up here for me please?

I'm in Oxford :-D

Expecting that to hit us in the next 30-45 mins or so... but I'm wondering whether it's still electrified. Any reports from underneath it?

Did you print out an image and then photo it?

Did you know that the Prt Scr button next to F12 will take a screenshot of what you can see on your screen?

You can then open up something like paint and click Edit -> Paste ( CTRL+V )...

For any Mac users out there, you need an application called 'Grab', and it's installed as standard. Just go to 'Applications > Utilities'.

I honestly wouldnt even think about it.

The chances are that it will of died long before reaching here and we will just end up with high altitude mist left over from the storm..

I disagree...there's plenty of mid-level energy to tap into to keep elevated storms invigorated throughout the overnight period. combine that with a strengthening lower jet which could well factor in nocturnal cooling, may result in a very active overnight period for storm lovers...I wouldn't say its a given, nothing is in meteorology.....The only possible concern I would have at this stage, is how quickly the trough moves through, as any leftover crud & detritus from the MCS might hamper convection tomorrow, but in saying that, it will only hamper surface based convection IMO, elevated storms may well form

I notice a Shropshire gap is getting ready to appear on the next batch as it gets nearer <_<

What a surprise.

If anyone's wondering, look at the 21.45 and 22.30 raintoday.co.uk radars to see what a "Shropshire Gap" means. Those images are so reminiscent of the so-called snowy winter of 2009/10!

Trust me, Nanu.

Best chance so far of storms so far this Spring. But I empathise with inland storms, as well as storms in your area so you're not alone if all else fails this weekend.

I'm so used to it.

Phil.

The wind's starting to pick up here. Could I be catching that cell going to my west?
