Moderate to heavy rain here. The novelty of it is amazing.

I'll probably stay up until 5am tonight, or so.

My rain just got heavier, hooray!

Glad to hear that both my home town and where I am are in with a remote chance at some point before dawn, though this time, if I'm going to be woken up by thunder at 06.30am, I'd quite like there to be another rumble after, not just a moderate shower.

I'm conscious of the fact that people are saying we're still really early in the season, but actually, May is (Bristol's at least) most thundery month of the year. Some of the best storms have happened in May e.g. 6th May 2000, 11th May 2001, 17th May 2002, 10th May 2004, 01st May 2005, 10th May 2006, 09th May 2008.

I have just come home from Portdown hill, nothing up there apart from lots of rain, the A27 is flooded in places. The StrikeAlert was going off from time to time but didn't see of hear anything.

I will charge the laptop up and then see what is happening.

Looking like ferk all here again. :( I have to say though it doesnt come close to the disappointment on the evening of the 17th of december when everywhere west of here was getting massive wintry convections and we only got a couple of inches at the tail end.

Plenty of wet stuff here in Belper too - nothing in the way of theatrics yet though.

Where do people think the cold front is?

I personally think its where ive marked red.. ( As its meant to be on the east side of the UK by midday tomorrow. and going my the echos on the radar...

I think once this gets a bit more east ( along with any troughs ) we could see some more action..

signs of the cold front approaching in the SW, look at the intensification and activity off the tip of Cornwall.

As the cold front approaches it should transfer energy eastwards, so we may all get in on the action, would be perfect timing at around 2-3am IMHO for eastern parts of the country, SE, EA, East Midlands, Lincs and Yorkshire. As NMM shows some very nice ML cape values with a negative LI, could give a lovely elevated show.

Just some reassurance for those of you who haven't seen anything yet, don't get down in the dumps over it as this early summer we have been enjoying is just that, early. There will be plenty more chances to see storms this year (this week even) which could be far superior to these, it is still only spring so don't let this unseasonable outbreak go to your heads.

Glorified April showers are still just April showers.

Heavy rain falling, nohing else happening. No where near as active as last night I still can't stop thinking about it.

There is still time for things to get more interesting tho but it justs shows you, just because there is a high risk of something happening that does not mean it will.

we are expecting an upper trough to move in across the south tonight, which should change the game a little

exactly, all action down south is rain just at the moment, and needed rain, but when the interactions take place soon it could spark of the awaited storm cells..

Now this is what I wanted to hear. I'm very much looking forward to tonight.

If I get nothing else, some very heavy rain over me right now. It might add some colour to the grass! :drunk:
