Hi all,

I am intrested in maybe purchasing a weather station but was not sure which ones to look at. The problem is i live in a 1st floor flat which has a balcony in a small village so was not sure the pro's and con's on being in a flat and installing a weather station.

Not sure on my budget yet or if i want to connect it to the PC.

Chris

I suppose it'd be quite difficult to install a wind vane and anemometer in that situation, unless you have access to the roof area and can rely on it not to be interefered with up there. Also your rain gauge would need to be in a similar place with no shelter from wind as rain can come at an angle and be sheltered, even on your balcony. What areas do you have at your disposal? If you cannot find an open space for the rain gauge and anemometer/wind vane I would suggest a non-professional station that gives just temperature, humidity, pressure readings etc. If you do then I would suggest (as a beginner -intermediate station) the WS-2350 by Techno Line, available at Heavyweather store for around £120 or so. It enables you to use heavyweather software to create a database of information in your computer. Quite a reliable and precise model for such a good price, can be accurate to within 0.1c/0.5mph/0.1mm if set-up in the right way.
