What a day. We left a region of 70+ DP's and headed to a region which will often produce spectacular storms with amazing structure. We started in Sious Falls, and travelled 700 MILES to arrive in Sterling, Colorado about 7 in the evening. Out to our West there was a nice storm developing. Oh my, the structure was amazing. Inflow band, otherwise the Beaver's Tail was visible. A rotating updraft was more than evident. Shelf and Roll clouds developing to our NE on the storm - fantastic. We had a very clear view of the rain free updraft base - awesome. No tornado but the drive was worth seeing a Supercell Thunderstorm develop in front of our eyes.

Bear in mind, we had a DP of 50 right here. However, we are at 4500ft above sea level (yes I do feel giddy and light headed!). Our hight above sea level means that the lower part of the atmosphere is cut out so weird thing happen. Like this storm, a chasers favourite place to go, amazing.

Pics will follow............
