Plenty of sunshine for much of Europe, thundery showers in central areas

Wednesday

A fair day for Portugal and Spain with some good spells of sunshine. There will be decent sunny spells across France too and it should be largely dry here. A few showers breaking out over the Low Countries with more widespread showers and rain over Germany and Poland. This area of low pressure brings more thundery showers over Austria, Hungary and Switzerland.

Thundery showers across northern Italy, although central and southern areas will be dry with good spells of sunshine. Fair over Greece and Turkey with sunny spells here. This sunshine extending into Bulgaria and Romania. To the north high pressure will bring sunny spells and dry weather through Scandinavia and the Baltic States. Scattered showers for Sweden, these becoming heavy and more widespread over Denmark. Norway will have broken cloud and mainly dry weather.

Thursday

Cloud and some outbreaks of rain affecting the far west of Portugal, most of this showery. Elsewhere across Iberia the day is going to be bright and dry with sunny spells. There will be good spells of sunshine for much of central Europe, this extending through France and into Germany and Poland.

More sunshine to come across the Mediterranean where it should be staying dry. Remaining sunny across Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania although there will be some heavy showers forming in the west.

Low pressure through the UK and Ireland brings some cloud and showers here. Denmark stays dry with sunny spells. Some showers affecting southern Norway and Sweden. More northern areas will be dry with sunny spells and it should stay dry and sunny throughout Finland and the Baltic States.

Today

A day of sunshine and showers across England heavy rain in the south west. Lots of showers, some heavy and thundery are forecast across France, Germany and across the Alps into northern parts of Italy. Mainly dry across eastern Germany and across Belgium, Holland and Denmark with sunny spells. A band of rain will lie from Norway into Sweden into Poland and Romania with frequent, heavy showers and thunderstorms across Belarus, Russia and the Ukraine. A hot, sunny day to come across Finland and the Baltic States. Very warm across the former Yugoslavia and Bulgaria with just a few showers. Sunny and warm into Greece. Thundery through central areas, but fair to the south

Saturday

Lots of showers to come across a chilly England and occasional showers too across into Belgium, Holland into Denmark. Eastern parts of France will continue to see showers with the west and the south sunny and dry. Heavy showers and thunderstorms are forecast across Italy into the Alps and the far south of Germany.

Much of Spain and Portugal looks sunny, dry and warm with lots of sunshine into the Balearic's across into Corsica. Southern parts of Germany will catch some heavy showers with the north fair and dry. Rain across eastern Poland otherwise a dry day across Poland.

Some rain across northern parts of Norway and Sweden into Belarus and Romania with heavy, thundery showers across the Ukraine and southern Russia. Hot and sunny across Finland today with showers into the Baltic States. Sunshine and showers to come across Turkey today but dry and sunny across Greece and much of the former Yugoslavia.

Sunday

A few showers may break out across central parts of Spain today but for most it should be fine and sunny. There will be some cloud and rain over the far northwest of Spain, with Portugal being dry. Most of the Mediterranean stays fine with plenty of sunshine from west to east. However, some cloud and showers could affect northern Turkey, with heavy showers to the south.

Cloud and rain affects northwest France but the rest of the country should be dry. The Low Counties, Switzerland, Germany and Austria are all going to be dry with more sunshine to come here, and this fine weather will be extending into Denmark and Poland.

To the north there will be rain and string winds through the UK and Ireland with some cloud and rain affecting southwest Norway. The rest of southern Scandinavia is rather cloudy with some spots of rain, and these extending into the Baltic States too. Some cloud and showery rain across Finland.

A fair and warm day over most of Iberia. It will be breezy in the north though, and there is the risk of some heavy showers affecting northeast Spain. Sunny spells and some showers for France too, most of them to the east. Heavier showers across the Low Countries with some rain affecting Germany. Italy is likely to be seeing some heavy afternoon showers, as a strong Mistral blows off southern France. A fair day across most of Spain and Portugal, with some thicker cloud affecting the far northwest of Spain. Some rain in the far northwest of France, but for most of the country there will be sunshine and dry weather. Staying fair across the Low Countries, with some cloud in Germany. A few heavy showers for Austria and Switzerland as well as Hungary. Low pressure brings some hefty showers for northern and central Italy. Dry through Greece and Turkey with lots of sunshine here. Bulgaria and Romania should be dry too with more sunshine to come here. To the north cloud and some patchy rain affects Denmark and western Norway. For Sweden the day should be dry with sunny spells, and it should be dry through the Baltic States too. Sunshine to come through Finland and dry here.
