Glastonbury (22Nd June Update)

J10

Recommended Posts

Today saw some moderate rain over Glastonbury, around 8mm, according to the radar, however areas to the east received quite a bit more.

Thursday

The NW flow is kept over the UK, with pressure slowly building with a ridge from the South West (Pressure reaching 1020mb) by evening. Much of Southern Britain dry in the morning, but showers breaking out as per the GFS during the afternoon. South Western parts of the UK definitely seems to have the best of the weather, and it should stay mostly dry with increasing sunshine into the afternoon. Temps around 14-15, but perhaps feeling slightly warmer with lighter NW winds and in the sunshine during the afternoon. The dry weather should help dry out any muddy areas on site.

Friday

A ridge of High Pressure will push in from the SW, (pressure 1025mb) for southern parts of the UK. However later in the day Low Pressure will edge in from the West or South West. Although the heaviest of the rain will be reserved for the South West, models runs (both GFS and UKMO) now show some rain hitting Glastonbury for the evening, although GFS indicates only around 3-4mm of rain for Glastonbury. Temps 15-16c with cloud in the afternoon.

Saturday

The Low Pressure from yesterday will continue to move NE over the UK. It definitely seems to be a getting better sort of day, with drier weather spreading in from the South West. However there is some uncertainty, GFS has the rain clearing through quite quickly, while UKMO has it further south for longer. Unfortunately we are still not in the range of the High Resolution models, for an accurate picture, and 50-100 miles could make a huge difference to the weather. However both models have the heaviest rain further North than Glastonbury at this stage. Temps hitting 18-19c and looking rather cloudy, so it may feel very muggy.

Sunday

Sunday sees the High pressure over Southern areas move away to the east, but also with the Low Pressure also pushing away to the north. This allows very warm air to push in from the South. (850Hpa 13-14c). It should therefore but a warm warm or hot day with temps in the mid twenties, perhaps evening hitting 25c. It should also be sunny and it should remain shower free for Glastonbury.

Summary

Not as good as yesterday, with the chance of further rain Friday Night into Saturday, although the heaviest of the rain should miss Glastonbury to the North.
