Very heavy rain falling. Thunder and lightning largely died down now. Clearance visible in the western sky.

We might as well be living in two different countries here. Seriously.

I cannot remember any previous occasions off the top of my head when certain parts of the UK got storm after storm, while everywhere else saw absolutely nothing.

I'm not begrudging you guys what your getting (over and over and over) but surely to God us Westerners are going to get to join the party sometime?

Yes, looks like a distinct trough has set up - from the NE coast down through London and towards Hampshire.

:cc_confused: I don't see why everyone is getting worked up about missing out on a trough that is surface progged to shift across all the UK throughout the next 48 hours giving almost anyone a chance of seeing something. Today isn't the 'be all and end all' of this current trough setup, plenty of more instability to be tapped into to come. By this tomorrow if you still haven't seen anything then we can perhaps forgive your grumblings..but come on..look at the surface forecast.

Those showers to the west of Newcastle are building into thunderstorms now.

Can i just add that whatever the set up is the storms miss here. I do not expect a direct hit but something within the locality would be super. MOTHER NATURE DID YOU GET THAT

Now raining and 1 rumble of thunder heard!

Glad to hear that you are having a storm. Just heard another rumble of thunder, the first for 10 minutes. Skies still overcast, and clearance still slowly coming over from the west, but the whole development is trough-like.

There may be some hope. The line of rain to the north seems to be intensifying and is heading this way

Rainfall has turned into a monsoon! 4 lightning bolts and 6 thunder rumbles!

Say goodbye to the no storms club then

Can see that cell on radar. It looks enormous, and has exploded into life over the past 10 minutes or so :)
