Funnel Cloud

I was in Kirkby Stephen earlier this evening watching my son play football, and as I turned away in pain after he missed an open goal, what should I see but a funnel cloud! At its height I only had my Blackberry with me, but as I grabbed my decent camera from the boot of tha car, it seemed to reform again before finally disappating.

It was located in the area between Murton Pike and Great Dun Fell, right where the Pennine Way crosses, so anyone taking an evening stroll would have been in for a treat....unless it was a tornado and they all died?

saw this small funnel cloud from sprunehorpe only present for 5 mins then dissipated - 20mins later torrential downpour - only had my phone with me so poor image quality was more defined the ragged bottom vanished and it become more pointed before dissipating within 60 seconds. sky very turbulent and dark.

    Nice one OON!

Didn't see anything around here stuck in work all day, but I did this timelapse this evening and the movement of the clouds was pretty interesting...

The question is what was more exiting, the football or the funnel cloud? :p

Great Spot! I love the fact that everyone else looks bored and oblivious whilst you were running around like a big kid!

I was shouting out "there's a funnel cloud, there's a funnel cloud" and no one took a blind bit of notice, so I upped it to "there's a tornado" and I think people were expecting a fighter plane to go overhead.

Parrot Park, field of dreams.

Bloody parrots used to make hell of a racket when I lived in Nateby and they landed on my roof. I assume it's called Parrot Park because of them?!

Well, being a life-long Ipswich fan, I did, of course, find the football on offer last night.....some of the most exciting I've seen in the past 10 years.
