A cloudy and damp start after a little light rain overnight. At observation, dull with the odd spot of light rain. The morning early afternoon stayed cloudy with the odd short light shower. By mid afternoon there were some bright and brief sunny spells. Again the wind stayed light throughout.

Aha that chart explains why there are showers coming down through Wales and into the central West Country - mainly Somerset. I had

thought the trough was going to be aligned W-E across Southern counties and not looping around like that.

This area is in between clear sunny sky approximately 30 miles East and that showery area approximately 20 miles West. The result

is a cloudy bright day with occasional hazy sunshine and the odd drop of rain.

The interesting aspect is that there have been showers looking like arriving here from the NNW all morning but they have all died

out save for the odd drop of rain.
