Where as here has been quite the opposite!

In fact probably the coolest night since... well can't remember, perhaps May I would have at a guess.

What a difference a clear starry night can make amongst the almost constant days of cloudy nights, just driven home and the car got down to 6C. Hardly unprecedented, but a far cry when compared to the '90s and the odd year of the 21st Century - when we often had to endure hot sticky summer nights.

Cloud is breaking up nicely and allowing the sun to appear. Far from the doom and gloom the bbc were forecasting for the west yesterday.

A much warmer & humid feel to this morning - and with less cloud than yesterday morning. Unlikely to be as clear this afternoon as it was yesterday but certainly warmer since we're up to 23.5c already (yesterdays max was 21.6c).

Lovely stuff to round off July.

Overcast again - not seen the sun for 4 days now. Talk of summer next week, well maybe if you're in London - looks cloudy and wet here albiet warm initially.

In fact BBC 5 day forecast for me doesn't bring the temperature above 20c! So not even warm.

Having just got back from a glorious week in South Devon , 6 out of 7 days of long sunny spells and temps in the mid 20c i',ve arrived back in the East Mids to fair weather cloud and a humid feel.

Cannot complain.

If only we could guarantee the weather here in the UK, there would be no need to go abroad for a family holiday.

A strange day of extremes. After the coldest night of the month so far with a min temp of 8.3C it has turned into the second warmest day, with a max of 23.9C.

Clear overnight and this morning but it has turned mostly cloudy in the past couple of hours. Currently 21.2C and 69% humidity with a moderate south-easterly breeze.

Despite some brightness and some very little hazy sunshine, it has been rather cloudy and a rather disappointing end to July.

No sign of the brighter afternoons of recent days. Temps 19c.
