Recon are back in again and have surprising found winds of over 60mph, 50-55kts. Pressure of only 1005mb though and the centre still struggling to travel much north.

Disorganised Emily has degenerated into a trough and is no longer considered a tropical cyclone. Emily has suffered at the hands of dry air and shear throughout it's lifetime, so the rugged terrain of Hispaniola was the final straw. Nevertheless, the remnants of Emily will still provide dangerous, flooding rains to Haiti and Dominican Republic. As Emily's remains move north, there is a chance of re-generation into a tropical cyclone as the disturbed area moves towards the Bahamas. For now, Emily ceases to be a tropical storm.

Chance that Emily may regenerate because there is still a mid to high level circulation to the north of Haiti. Rather than being destroyed, it looks as if the low level centre has detached.

Emily has re-developed into a tropical depression east of Florida. Little or no strengthening is expected as Emily remains a poorly stacked system, and shear is increasing. The air is also quite dry north of the system. Emily should dissipate in about 36hrs time as it moves out to sea.

Yes, Emily has gone. When a system is generally disorganised anyway it doesn't stand a chance against shear and dry air. When will get a hurricane I wonder?
