Hi guys,

As you've probably noticed, there's a very stormy looking Tuesday coming up with high winds and plenty of rain about. Just a little something I whipped up to give a brief outline of what potential we have, enjoy. :)

It's looking like a lively one, seems I may have missed out gale potential for the South though.

I do hope the GFS have slightly overdone this run..because that looks very nasty for early friday morning for these parts.

Personally, I don't think that will materialize. If it does it will be very nasty indeed. You would be looking at a sustained wind speed of 60mph. I think we should focus on Tuesday though, as it's more the amount of rain that warrants the warning rather than the wind. Friday is FI as far as I am concerned.

Looking relatively calm in Glasgow in terms of wind speed. It's really just the coastal fringes that are at risk from the higher winds.

potentially damaging gusts in a wide zone, the exposed south coast and hills also taking a battering, but the high risk areas this is a concern as mostly the time of year, this of course being leafed trees having more push on them, then we have other factors to worry about and these being water logged tree roots, then we have some areas with dry trees. so all a risk of fallen trees, in fact i would say the risk is high even in the 50mph zones in the south because of full leave trees.

Forecast for Birmingham is 40 mph gusts on Tuesday with 37 mph on Monday.

Looking very windy here too. Blackpool expected 58 mph gusts!

http://simple.wikipe.../Beaufort_scale - wind speed scale kph/mph/knots

phone wires whistle or hum after 32mph more especially 38mph and once we get to that speed it starts to get rough

Is there some actual weather coming to break this spell of mundane cloudiness? I sure hope so. Of course, my area will never be the most affected in this kind of set-up, seeing as we're sheltered by the Peak District to the west.

Still, I should see some decent gusts and some needed rainfall.

Cheers for that great post there Coast. :)

I'm going to wait until the 12z comes out, and I will update my warning map. I've underestimated the potentially damaging gusts along the Southern coastline.
