Can see some beefy clouds dotted around me but so far, its been a pleasant sunny start to the day bar some early showers. Keeping an eye on when that trough starts to move into Wales...

Do you think we are likely to see much in the way of beefy showers this afternoon.

It's hard to make out where the trough is by the looking at the radar. Nevertheless though - heavy showers all over the place so as I always say on these sort of days... fingers crossed! Already had 6mm worth of showers today.

Nothing much heading towards me on the radar at the moment!!

Think I'll come back in a couple of hours to see if anything severe is heading towards the forecasted severe threat area!!

I think that severe threat area is a bust already. It looks like nothing more than heavy showers for all today.

Light rain before dawn and some rain showers around 11ish. Now warming up quickly with lighter cloud, still quite disappointing, but I don't ever expect much with them Pennines there.

Radar shows very heavy showers around W Yorkshire, Lake District, Wiltshire, Dorset and Pembrokeshire/Valleys area.

Alot of showers in the Borders, Highland, C Belt, SW Coast and NW England - also alot of showers in Ireland and N Ireland that should hit the L District and Borders again.

Another thing to watch out for is a potent grouping of showers near the Isles of Scilly, it's n flank should clip the S Coast and move up towards E Anglia/SE this evening. Vibrant day of showers around the nation.

A day of popcorn brief heavy showers for most of us, just the lucky few getting thunder, not sure why expectations were high for widespread electrical activity.

Yea I agree, the severe forecast from UKASF was more for chance of hail/tornadoes.

I'm not entirely sure what people are expecting in the 'red/severe' area? It really is only for the risk of large hail and a tornado, nothing major.

Ooh just spotted a sferic on ATDnet over W Norfolk, hope it heads towards Norwich! There's potential for here to get perhaps 3 consecutive thundery days, commencing yesterday, if things go to plan...
