Another lovely start and a similar low to the last few nights (14.5,14.4 and last night 14.6). More haze around than recent days but isn't stopping the temperature shoot up gladly. Looking forward to actually going out during the middle of the day today rather than just the ends! Currently 20.2c which is 0.7c up on 24 hours ago.

Quite a nice morning (different to yesterday, nash, nash) with 5/8 of thick Ci. Temp 17C with a light southerly.

According to my weather station, it got down to -39.8º last night, but it's warmed up nicely now and is 20.5º with the sun breaking through. Magnificent!

Pleasantly surprised by today at Cleadon so far- it started off with a lot of high cloud, but most of the high cloud over and to the south of here has thinned out, leaving a vast wall of cloud to the north and west with Cleadon just on the northernmost edge of the hot sunny weather. Already a new site record for October with 23.9C so far (also right up there with the maxima reported by nearby stations on the 1st October 1985 according to Mr_Data's stats). It feels rather more humid than previous days, and the overnight minimum was only 14.8C- not quite a site record for October but unusually warm nonetheless.

I would personally put money on the 1985 record not being broken - according to weatheronline no official stations had even reached 25°C at 11:00AM.

Well it's 22.4°C here now at 12:12PM.

From 16C and overcast at 10am, to 26C and very sunny with only little high cloud at 2pm. Feeling quite humid, but arguably the best day of the spell.

A mostly sunny start turned cloudy from 10am-12pm but after that cloud evaporated to leave a mostly clear sunny afternoon with exceptional heat and the hottest October day on record here, high of 27.8c, currently 27.0c and sunny !

It really does not get much better than this even in mid summer, not as good to be honest. 5 days of temperatures above 27C, 3 of over 29C, lovely in the evening twilight, I'll be eating outside again tonight, but pleasant to sleep overnight.

With the occasionald day with rain this type of weather would be my ideal outside the official winter!

oh go on then 2 or 3 thundery spells allowed in mid summer!

Maxed at 24.0 in Cleadon in the end, so not as hot as in many other places, but I can't complain really because had the front been marginally further south it would have ended up cloudy and much cooler.

As it stands, 24.0 easily beats the previous site record (1993-2010) of 23.0 on the 8th October 1995, and is right up there with nearby stations' maxes from the 1st October 1985, and it has ended up mostly sunny. High cloud is now increasing from the west, but it is still bright for now. An amazing spell of weather, even up here in Tyneside- that's four consecutive days of 24C and above, all with plenty of sunshine, which is higher than the entire of 2007 managed!
