Major Hurricane Jova

It looks like GFS may have been right from the beggining. Pretty much from the beggining GFS was forecasting rapid weakening before landfall due to a slow track and dry air ingestion. We have not seen weakening yet however it does look to have steadied out.

I was slightly wrong as i follow another forum and there is a guy from the US who goes hurricane chasing (went for Jova and Rina) and he observed that Jova actually intensified during the final 4 hours up to landfall (he was just out the centre and has sent his obs to the NHC).

Strong category 2 impact then but with another 6 hours over water it may have reached category 3.
