There is currently a 7C temp difference between me and a station just over a mile away on a hill! This is because I'm in the bottom of a valley and there is an an inversion enhanced by a southerly wind and mild air moving in above the cold layer. There is a layer of mist/fog about 20m above the valley floor that I guess may well be separating the layers.

Clear and chilly again overnight, with shallow mist and fog over the near by fields, low 4.1c, again just avoiding a ground frost, grass minimum 0.2c. Clouding over around dawn and staying mainly cloudy through the morning with just bright spells. The afternoon saw the sheet of Stratocumulus break to allow good sunny spells, turning warm once again, maximum temperature 17.1c, the wind was light and variable throughout.

After a clear/chilly start to the day it has been mostly cloudy with Stratocumulus, Altocumulus, Cirrus and a few light showers with

some hazy sun at times.

Breezy from the WSW, 13.9c and humidity at 89%.

Lots of showers moving our way after narrowly passing the pesky pennines, I'm waiting for this squall line atm though.

Dusting of Snow on the hills around Penicuik, Rain turned to sleet at this level 190m asl, before dying out temp down to 2c chilly feel!!!

Bright start and felt quite mildesh at lunchtime, however clouds rolled in and now feeling decidely chilly in the strong winds. Fun and frollocks just coming in off the Irish Sea accoring to the radar. I guess this is the squall-line. Heavy rain and then much colder temperatures expected when this passes through.
