November Cet

Slightly earlier than usual, but it is closing in on Autumn on NW now!

November CET averages: 6.9C (71-00), 6.5C (61-90), and the Phillip Eden provisional cet gives November 7.2C from 81-00.

November is generally my favourite month of the year, along with December. I think we will see cool se'lies, hp ridging in, and later on in the month, atlantic weather with cool, wintry weather across the north, and generally milder/warmer and drier in the south.

I will be having an early go at 6.8C, generally average.

    10C

That's higher than the average maximum temperature in November for Leeds!

    I'll go for 6c.

lol can't say I didn't! This cooler weather has made me feel festive, and the period of Halloween to New Year's Eve of course luckily coincides with all of November and December :)

Perfect 2 months for me - love them. Last year's cold November and baltic December would be amazing if it were to repeat itself this year.

I like November as, the sea temperatures are moist, meaning if cold air passes the north sea, it's usually quite convective (that's why I got a foot of snow in the last week of November last year), the sun is not powerful and the cold is very strong in Greenland and Scandi/Siberia by mid-November. We can get -10C uppers in mid-November, so that's when ramping starts basically. You also cannot beat the festivity of November-December and the long, cold nights. I know many dislike it, but that's what makes winter. January and February can be as mild as it wants - aslong as we get the cold in the festive period, that'll do!

That's probably why I liked last winter a lot.

A very average month with any cold reserved for the very end of the month, causing the CET to dip just below average, but not by much.

    6.1C finish.

Love how below average everyone is voting. I also loved last years mid-November to late December period. For me, it's the best time for cold and snow, the build up to the festive season. Really not too arsed about Jan and Feb smile.png

I do not expect last years snow fest to be repeated at the end (23cm from the 26th-2nd) however i do expect winter to get off the mark early with dominant blocking to the north of the UK.

5.7C for me, 1.5C below the 1981-2010 average.

Wow.. 1 one cold November and everyone is going below average. Maybe some need to remember all the mild November's that preceded it (apart from 2005).

I Am 3 times your age my boy,do not need reminding of past mild Novembers.

Yes, I'm just indicating that after 1 cooler November, a lot are putting their money on another cooler November - which against the overall background of Novembers recently is generally unlikely - although it's 50/50 as always.

Unless of cause we have entered a cycle of cooler novembers, and for that matter, winters.

    Anyway,as i said, for now 4.9.

    • Wet March so far with more rain for the rest of the month, but hints of more settled weather early April

It's been a wet March for much of the UK, with well above average rainfall, though the Northern & Western Isles have been drier than average. Despite a colder drier respite on Monday, staying generally unsettled to see out the rest of the month. But hints of some drier weather in early April. Read the full update here
