Got to go Musgrove (Taunton) later, so should be able to get some good views across the somerset levels later, providing everything does'nt go around me, which has been the trend this year

Looking ahead to tomorrow and the threats seem to spread a little further East, which is welcome here!!

Some lively thunderstorms recently passing over the Channel Islands looking at radar and sferic plots - probably headed north towards Dorset coast. Wouldn't be suprised if that's a storm across northern Somerset too at the end of the line extending NW across SW Wales and onto Ern Ireland - which is likely a trough heading north.

:good:

Good luck all. I have that nagging doubt that heavy rain rather than a pre-bonfire night lightshow is the nature of the day in most places, though - particularly in the SE. Cardiff and surrounding areas look best to me around 3pm.

It certainly looks interesting today and also into tomorrow! Thanks for the forecasts and detailed posts from Nick F etc.

Only had rain showers here so far, A lively downpour looks to have moved ashore about 10 miles to my east on the radar. I hope I get something out of this and we don't become a zone of decaying showers in between which looks to be happening with what's coming this way on the radar..

We had a monsoon of rain from 2am till 2:20am, here in Oxford. There was also a rumble of thunder which woke up several people but I was the lucky one who slept right through it.

Incredible charts!!! Absolutely amazing for this time of year.

Shame I'm looking set to miss the lot in the SE corner...how ironic!

Only thing that's going on here in S. Glos at the moment is a cool, grey morning. Doesn't look like much was heading our way on radar before i left for work at 6am this morning....can't bring the charts up at work so not sure if thats changing.

How strange it would be for me to go storm chasing in November, it would be a first let’s put it that way.

The forecasts I have seen this morning all show a mass of very heavy rain moving north overnight across C+E England. Is this likely to be thundery or is the thundery stuff going to be the showers today. Reason I am interested is that the showers look to miss us by too far to consider travelling but the overnight rain will come close enough for me to attempt a chase.

Historically from watching many, many, storms that have come in from mid-wales along these same vectors they tend to take the same route across Cheshire and further into Derbyshire than forecasted. Its almost like the Cambrian Mountains & Snowdonia orographically guide them further eastwards into Chester or further beyond depending on the strength of uppers.

Going to be an interesting day to see if this plays out again in action.

As Harry said the charts are looking good for this time of year.

What is that lot?? :D

Not sure if it is going to head in completely that direction, but the winds have picked up considerably in the last 10 minutes.

25th November 2006 i went out to watch a squall line come through, thunder hail 50mph gusts ,then next day it thundered again!

Nothing sparkling here yet, just some moderate showers floating about and skies look very crowded with cloud and skud, hard to see wether convection is present.

Going by the MetO latest radar which is the only one that loads for me at work, it looks like we're about to get hammered in Bristol.

Yeah, but is it anything sufficient for the South East??

What time tomorrow will I be able to take the skills test? I have the aicraft all day, but slightly confused by all the forecasts saying rain/thunder with sunny intervals clearing after early morning rain.

Need 2hrs to make or break!
