One day left of Autumn 2011 and I thought I'd create this thread so people can share there views and perceptions of the season.

For me well it hardly felt like autumn arrived this year. One long mild snooze fest, yes the glorious warm sunny weather of late sept/early october was very welcome - but it came 2 months too late..

Very few frosts, hardly any fog, lots of cloudy dull weather in the second half of the autumn, no snow for the fell, a very poor show.

November 2011 - glad to see the back of it has to be said, the last week has mind been much more bearable thanks to the arrival of the atlantic - I can't believe I am saying this.. but the euro high long outstayed its welcome, again why couldn't it occur during the summer.

As you can see - my post is a bit of whine fest I just had to get it off my chest how 'trying' I have found this autumn, am much much more optimistic that winter 2001/2012 will actually feel like the season it belongs too.

Very much agree with your sentiments. Except from the extraordinary heatwave during late September/early October, the lack of interesting weather has been frustrating (I was really hoping for an Atlantic dominated autumn to help ease the drought situation here.) Very few frosts, no early autumn thunderstorms and it only feels like this week when autumn is properly arriving, the week when meterologically winter starts!

This year has largely been a snoozefest, I really hope next year retains proper seasonal weather in the right seasons!

Yes it has been a very poor Autumn,i love Autumn but this year that blasted euro high ruined it totally for me. Hardly any fog or frost or cool/cold days. Halloween was the warmest i ever recorded 17.2c which p##sed me off no end . November was totally forgetable. Autumn this yr kinda felt more like late summer for much of the time. This Autumn i suppose is typical of this year really- boring as hell and the seasons seem to be out of sinc this yr,hopefully next yr things will be more normal and interesting.

Dull, boring, uninteresting, no air frost. We did have a few 'thunderstorms' back in September and October though. One in September was really great, very intense tropical rain.

Other then that, Autumn 2011 surely belongs in the trash can!

Pretty much the same here, I will most likely remember this autumn for its remarkable hot sunny spell at the end of September and into the beginning of October, but otherwise not many events stick out. It's been very dry and consistently warm here, but not particularly sunny- the sort of weather that the media raves about but that I find pretty boring when it persists for a long time.

First half of November would get the wooden spoon award as the sun hardly shone at all in Tyneside, just the one bright day.

September was above the average temperature by around 1c. Rainfall was around 50% and sunshine was around 95% (thanks to the late heatwave).

October was above the average temperature by around 1c also. Rainfall was around 95% and sunshine around 90%.

We have not got November's stats, but it's likely to be above the average temperature by 2c. Rainfall should be between 60-80% and sunshine should be near average.

I usually love autumn. We have crisp cold winters, and thin icy air in the mornings. Perfect weather for hammering the trails on a mountain bike, and lovely weather for cycling to work - even if it rains, waterproofs are comfortable since it's cold enough to not sweat too much.

This year however, has been a complete letdown. Unusually warm weather, bouts of heavy rain, and strong, but not "interestingly strong" winds (until the last two few days!).

Keeping my fingers crossed for a return to normal winter conditions in December.
