Aboyne in Scotland is at 0C as of 17:00.

Mullingar in Ireland is at 1C.

Most of England holding up at 3C or more.

Bingley near me is now at 4C.

Really need that precipitation over NW England to disappear.

Ground frost forming in patches, 2.4c here.

Plenty of places in Scotland at 1C (Stornaway and Aberdeen being surprises) so it looks like a fairly widespread frost in Scotland. Even the capital is only at 3C.

Really need that precipitation over NW England to disappear.

Should be gone in the next hour or so.

It would seem the Irish Sea is producing showers and even a streamer.

Probably blown the chances of a frost for most of Western England now I would imagine.

If you come from the South Coast and are snow starved and sick of warm rain look up this link. Even if you just want to prepare for the snow look it up! A pleasant foretaste for many and this is where it is coming from.

Oh it just stopped! Plenty still coming down here though.

I envy you so much.

Anyone help me push the UK North around 300 miles? Gonna take a whole load of horse power.

I'd take a dusting right now over absolutely nothing at all. Jealous to death of GWW!

Aye, as stated above, Shetland is fairly low down. It's just due to the fact the -5C 850's are over the island that they are receiving snow. That and they're situated much further North than we are, so a closer proximity to the North Pole.

Cheers for telling me!, was thinking it would be high up as the higher areas were the only one's forecasted snow from what i have heard, obviously the -5c uppers have moved in, Great News!

It's a fairly odd situation though it must be said. Because of the size of the island, I would expect a great warming effect from sea, even during a westerly, because the SST's are anonymously warm for the time of year, but he seems to be avoiding it!

And unfortunately this wave of -5C uppers isn't going to move further South than Shetland, perhaps brushing the far North of Scotland before moving off into Scandinavia. Wave 2 of the -5's however should be with us sometime Sunday morning. :)

Nicely explained! At least there are signs that the -5c uppers are closeby and by sunday morning will be that bit further south, which will be a improvement.

I have my own definition though! If you can measure it, it's a covering!

Not just that bit further south, they will be covering much of the country for a short time. :)

I think I might well see the kitchen sink up here over the weekend! Turning back to rain and strong winds tomorrow with severe gales or even storm force winds for Saturday, turning back to snow on Sunday. Gotta love this weather lol
