The strong Solihull snow shield sure does need a good beating! Think those sleet and snow showers in Wales need to get a move on and make it further East. Those sleet/snow showers are being badly behaved at the moment! :p

Hope anyone else who would love to see some Wintry weather gets to have their snow shield smashed to pieces, too.

Am off to B&Q first thing in the morning to get the biggest hammer I can find .....lol

He hee... what a good idea. :D

This red line monster will also teach these showers a lesson, and ensure they reach the West Midlands... ;')

Thanks. :)

I'll see what I can do...

Me: "Hey, Mr Red Line, once you've done trying to get the sleet and showers to come over here, could you perhaps force them to head for Oxfordshire, afterwards."

Mr Red Line: "Do I really have to?"

Me: "Yes! It's very important. Mark really wants to see some."

Mr Red Line: "Fine, fine! Tell him to expect to see the first snowflake at exactly 2 minutes past 8 in the morning."

Me: "Excellent!"

2 mintues past 8 it is for you then! ;')

Winds beginning to switch to a more WNW'ly flow now it seems, showers just 10 miles or so NE of Newark. Reports of snow in Derby and Nottingham so a chance I could see the first snowfall of the season here within the next hour or so, a nice little bonus.

Our first snowfall of the season has finally just arrived. Moderate falls, albeit rather wet.

Arrived just in time too I feel, as I expect any isolated showers later on to fall as rain.

Its very cold out there today, just took the kids to school and that NW'erly feels icy!.....Also plenty of ice of the pavements, as I found out!

As far as any wintryness goes, it looks like it's reserved for more northern and north-eastern parts of our region

Graupel showers last night, remnants on the pavement/roads this morning. Few flakes just now, Mersey streamer just to the north..

Well, that was an extremely short lived opportunity of seeing snow for the Midlands

Our window of opportunity was from midnight last night to around 9am this morning unless you are above 250m high. The models look uninspiring for the next week at least and I know the models can chop and change very easily but personally I don't expect another snowy snap until the 20th December at the earliest for us Midlanders

It was pleasantly cold last night and first thing this morning. I was relieved to hear that at least some of you have had some snow. I was starting to believing in global warming . . . phew!

I see you have your snow shield up and running, Andy.

Seems a confident chap. Where did you get this from? Is he an NW member?

Don't think he posts here? He has a Facebook page, blog, you tube channel and tweets. Name of Mark Vogan.

The snow shield here put up enough of a fight to deflate the snow and wintry stuff away from here. In fact, there was one shower this morning which looked as though it was gonna reach here. But then... wham, the snow shield powered up absorbing that shower's energy. And... the worst part of all....

...Nothing fell out of the sky! :sorry:

Well, blink and you missed it sums up the snow potential from this little cold snap, and it certainly was chilly outside today...Looking further afield, what has caught my eye is the 12z ECM model run (admittedly only one specific run) which shows a secondary Low pressure sliding down the western side of the uk on friday into the English Channel on saturday...As already mentioned in the Model Discussion Thread, this could be a snow event for the Midlands...Definitely worth keeping an eye on the model outputs for the next few runs to see if this particular ECM run gains any support

Definitely loving the look of that 12Z ECM for Friday/Saturday. A mouth drooling chart. Providing that small Low in the Channel does not get programmed to become further North on future runs, then I agree with ajpoolshark that it could potentially be a very wintry day on Saturday. :D
