This event could be the most notable wind storm of recent years.

Currently Northern England northwards are in line for damaging winds, strongest over Scotland with hurricane force winds for the extreme west and as John has mentioned the Forth Clyde Valley could be hard hit.

As I mentioned in the model thread, the track and positioning of the storm from the NAE & GFS by Thursday evening are near idenctical on the 18z runs.

Small differences with central pressure but both show extremely windy conditions.

Think someone mentioned 80-90mph in the central belt? Seriously?? That is quite concerning.

Is this based on a childish spat or some actual form of rationale for such a comment ?

If the latter please post the charts and show where the low in your mind is going to go ?

Philip Avery just referred to it as a major major system with 80mph gusts through central Scotland. Heavy snow showers following on behind. Lots going on as the man said.

are we safe in ayrshire

It's a winter storm not a hurricane. Just make sure that anything than can blow away is tied down, and don't go to near the sea,

Anythink this could deliver snow .//////

It will as it moves through mainly for northern and western areas but not exclusively.

There's already a thread discussing Thursday's potentially significant storm, please continue here:
