Poor buggers not living here!

26.4mm and rising fast. My driveway is standing water, which is impressive seeing as it's gravel on limestone!

Its going to be slippy underfoot the next few days with all this surface water going to freezing and some more snow.

When's the wind going to be at its strongest? Got school plays this afternoon and evening!

Do you think we're in line for snow? I thought being fairly central we might both miss out?

Strongest for you between 6-8pm, but it'll be gusty all day, wind gusts around 50-65mph until some 80mph gusts late on. No snow for you, maybe above 200m tonight... should be gusty and wet though. Tomorrow however winds lighten and snow is likely.

Perhaps a few cm's from a weak from moving South tonight, being further West you should see more than here.

I think ice will be the greater harzard esp for the eldery and infirm.

Brilliant - just when the concerts are and everyone's on the road! I have warned the headteacher, but she's not got back to me.

And those of us on crutches!

51mph gust now, 29mm of rain and the river is rising very fast!

Nooooo come back Cumbria. I live vicariously through you when we are snowless here. Well I have to say your intro was far superior to ours haha.

Anyway good luck for the winter. Hope you get lots of the white stuff.

Yes, you did cut a sorry sight yesterday crossing the road in Appleby.

You're kidding yeah? Most people would mow me down!

Temperature in Appleby's dropped 2º in 25 minutes!

Pretty wet outside, hills are streaked with white and lots of standing water. Still plenty of snow on the hills, should freeze up nicely tonight, giving a good base for future snow. There's also still patches in the back garden. Temperature dropping, now at 6.9c. Not that windy here yet...

Very windy here now, bins blown over everywhere, and I witnessed a large branch coming down from a tree whilst walking home just now! :shok:

All pretty calm here... I thought this was meant to be the worst time? Winds are light, much less than earlier on.

Is it due to fire up later?... confused!

I think the worst will be around 5-8pm from what I've heard, not sure how accurate these forecasts can be though. Still really windy here though, my next door neighbour has lost a ridge tile by the looks of it as its shattered all over their drive. Good job they're at work or that would have been their car!

My impression has always been that for the North East the peak of the winds is set to arrive at around 9pm.

Very windy in Cleadon today but so far nothing exceptional.

The wind has really died down in the past 15 minutes :)

The GFS is still keen to bring a weakening band of snow south from Scotland on Saturday afternoon, it'll be interesting to see if anything materialises.
