Headed up over Causey Pike, Sail and Grisdale Pike yesterday. Perfect conditions, huge drifts of powder snow, lovely blue sky.

It's a shame most of this will melt with this coming mild spell. December has been great for snow on the Lakeland Fells, hopefully more of the same in the new year!

Great pics mate, it was stunning in the Lakes yesterday with perfect photography conditions :)

Such a shame the snow will be melting now, I'm sure it will be back.

Great photographs. I was in the NE over the weekend so couldn't take advantage of the great conditions. I knew it was going to be a good weekend - shame because the last couple of weekends when I have been walking were very unsettled and very windy - yes lots of snow but no views.

What is very dissapointing going by the outlook is most of the snow will be washed aside by christmas. The christmas-new year period is when I always look forward to a decent wintry walk or two, in the last three years there has been alot of snow about and decent conditions, have to go back to 2007 when we just had a green landscape.. Still we could see a decent polar NW shot again before new year returning the fells to their white splendour.. However, at least I have had three weekends in a row with plenty of the white stuff under my feet - I was on hadrians wall on friday in the snow.. if I hadn't seen any snow by now gosh I would be feeling low.

I was very lucky to have the sun out on Sunday for the last of the cold weather, have been out on the hill a few times this month but this was the first time I bothered to take the camera.

Will be very different conditions this christmas, last year we went for a walk around Aira Force which was frozen solid and Boxing day walked out across Derwent water which was covered in 4/5 inches of ice, wont be able to do that this year!
