These synoptic setups generally feature dry sunny weather towards the SE, dull wet weather towards the NW and dry cloudy weather in between. Cleadon has sat in the dry cloudy zone today- there were a couple of brief sunny intervals this morning but in general it has been overcast and windy, with a tiny bit of drizzle around 5pm. The maximum temperature was 12.8C, and it is currently at 12.6C.

A huge contrast with last year, when Christmas Day was calm and sunny with 11 centimetres of snow on the ground, and the overnight minimum was about 16C down on today's. Today has been almost 5C warmer than the entirety of December 2010. Indeed, while only the last two had any snow on the ground, the last warmer-than-average Christmas Day here was back in 2003.

On this xmas day it stared rather cloudy then some clear sunny spells appeared rapidely mid morning up till 1 pm then clouds again but some timids spells were seen during afternoon.

Almost no sensible wind so made it quite nice when under sunshine ( was at parents' garden facing south in a sunny spell , felt nice for a few mins) with a max of 9.4c in Orly and a low of 4c at midnight sharp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have records for some stations concerning pressure and not far here at 1038.4 hPA for now and rising !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
