Hmmm..... slightly tough one, I am still not convinced about this cold, but would love it to be true and we get a really cold February, so heart or head this month,

I think I will punt for 0.4c :-)

0.3C.

One of the coldest on record. Just watch.

Not looking like such a maniac now am I? :D

I predicted a record cold February in early January, and I'm going against my winter forecast's CET, despite it looking like I've nailed it.

I'll wait until Sunday at least before I give my prediction as it will be much clearer how long and deep the projected easterly may be..

Will have to leave mine for Monday now with so much uncertainity.

Obviously early days with regards to the CET but even if the cold does break down by the 5th we will raise the required temp for an above average by a decent amount. Of course Feb is the month where the 2nd half of the month can get increasingly mild CET averages in the right flow.

A very blocked, cold month. High pressure with easterly winds generally.

-0.4c.

Trend for me has now well and truly implemented itself. A very cold start followed by mild SW. A month similar to January 2002

Thus amended 5.3c from -0.4c.

To be honest I think a rule should be made that once you have committed yourself by posting a value, you have to stick with it. That would rule out panicky posts. I went for a mild value but I didn't panic by amending to a low value when models were threatening a cold spell. I'm sticking to my guns and if I'm way out so be it.

Ok I am predicting 2.8 degrees - I'm being very cautious and believe there is strong potential for it to come under 2 degrees, but seeing all my estimates in the last few months have been way under and I have played safe this time.

I foresee a very blocked month with all the energy in the southern arm of the jet, any atlantic attack later next week will most likely be a very short affair, if indeed it occurs, thereafter strong heights to the NE-NW quadrant order of the day - hence my belief a notably cold month could very well materialise, potentially rivalling Feb 91.
