The GFS is ALWAYS too aggressive with the Atlantic, on all of it's runs..

Chris.. Can't see those showers on the NetWeather radar yet

only a few dots at the moment but forming out of nothing .... and at a good angle for Leicester .

More twists and turns than you on F1 2011 :winky:

Check this satellite pic animation that someone posted in the South East thread...

http://www.yr.no/satellitt/europa_animasjon.html

Shows some nice cloud formation which looks to be a streamer of some sort heading towards The Wash, where will it head to after that??? *prays it comes way inland*

mentioned wash streamer on bbc weather, but pressure looks way too high for any lying snow this far west, completely different to the fantastic 30 nov 2010 to 02 Dec

Interesting developments sir Christopher :D

I normally see my Girlfriend every evening/night but I won't be seeing her tonight because she's going weight watchers then cinema with her girly friends  That leaves me in peace to do some radar watching like the sad man I am :winky:

The runs this evening are very hopeful for the midlands with regards to snowfall over the weekend.

Our best snowfalls are often battlegrounds, and this has the potential to be a battle rather than simply transitional.

The trend night be for things to move further west so I shall be keeping a close eye on that.. Could the east midlands end up with little precipitation? At the moment the answer is no, but things are going to move over the next few days one way or another.

I would say the midlands looks a good place to be at moment for snow this weekend, and there is the potential for a good fall of upwards of 8 to 10cm if things come off for us.

Could be interesting for us East midlanders on Friday, Andy.

in that case you can add 360's & 720's, whilst still in 2nd gear...lol....

as mentioned, a big upgrade, ECM keeps T850's at -4C or below right up to the last frame currently updated (T168).....FAX output has a SW developing over Western Wales and a trough situated over the East Midlands on saturday....The ECM could be epic tonight

Indeed! I'm interested in tonight/tomorrow too, there is potential here for a Wash streamer to set up, it probably won't be much, light-moderate showers that will be hit and miss but just seeing a little dusting would be nice!

Good grief...it's like a miserable funeral in here judging by some posts!

The runs so far this evening are very positive for the Midlands, especially so for the east. I'm coming up for the Albion match on Saturday so I'm hoping you guys get a pasting too! It does amuse me how whenever there's a disappointing run it's taken as gospel, despite the fact the models can't get a grip on 2/3 days ahead.

Chin up!

Pretty much most of the models against the GFS this evening. Really great upgrades otherwise this evening. Still lots to resolve and at this time the GFS 12z is the only model this evening to go the wrong way really! Not to say its wrong though. You never know with these models and the UK itself!

*wipes away tear* Look at Leicester sitting there under all that snow potential. I feel like a proud Dad at his kid's first school play.

ECMWF 12Z is a terrific run, shows weekend snow, then we stay cold/below zero entire run due to inversion high, Andy your 5 inch snow will last a week!

00Z's tomorrow crucial, if they follow GFS then thats it, no snow

id say the crucial point will be tomorrows 12z's as the high res models will come into play from then aswell. Also the metoffice are far more accurate inside +48 and if snows on the cards id expect forecasts to reflect this. If todays outputs are exactly the same tomorrow id expect the midlands to be in the firing line

Yeah seen you replied in SW thread , but 18 hours at least for Leicester from that ... All we need now is a Result down City tonight ... Drinkwater to Score ...... and then an upgrade from the 00z's . They better win anyway Foxes player is costing me a fortune to listen in Weston lol.

Would certainly be very nice to wake up to a few inches on Sunday morning, seeing as the Midlands usually need a front system to see decent snow :)

Steve murr on model thread mentioned twice now that front may not even reach SE England, surely a very low chance? if so midlands best placed for snow
