Clear, sunny and cold with the temperature 0.5c and rising slowly after a very frosty start at -3.3c!

The satellite images suggest that this region is the sunniest in the UK at the moment.

Clear intervals and a slight frost last night.

Sunny intervals today, moderate SE to NE breeze.

Strange temperature readings today. I am surprised that the maximum is as high as 5.6c, when I expected 3-4c only. This is above any other place in Wales. Either a localised foehn effect from the nearby (but snow covered Cambrians?), or my sensor was playing up. However there were 2 separate milder peaks, the first of 4.9c before midday, then a drop to 3.8c, before the max at 1320, then a sharp drop off to 2.2c by 1430! At the time of the max the wind was SE which would support the foehn effect theory, and seems to have dropped off to an (inversion cold?) calm after this. There were sunny spells at the peaks, with cloud afterwards.

Clear and frosty this evening.

Min: -0.8c @ 0630

Max: 5.6c @ 1320 (strange and questionable!)

Rain yesterday: 0.3mm

Rain since 0900: Nil

Currently: Clear and frosty

Temp: -1.7c

RH: 89%

Pressure: 1029mbar, rising slowly.
