Forgot to mention, heres the beast!

In regards to the frost melting just seems to be the way this whole spell has been, very little in the way of frost despite daytime maximums barely above freezing. The north westerly spell we had in decemeber had frost on the ground constantly for 3 or 4 days despite being warmer. wouldnt worry about it to much tbh

Great pic, thanks for sharing. What's the expected movement of that front - NW to SE, W to E, SW to NE?

Agh for goodness sake, frost will melt when the cloud rolls in and temps rise but that does not mean we won't get snow... I think there needs to be a bit of a positivity injection here! There is snow on the way, looks like the best event of the season. I think everyone in the midlands will see some snow and the amount of rain following has been downgraded so people should be much chirpier than they are.

Come on guys! This is good! Could even be an all snow event for some...

frost starting to melt now, bad sign I think

Why? Did you seriously expect like -5c all day under cloud and an incoming front???

Here we go - snow time at last!

Lovely, sunny and freezing cold morning here down to -4.7c in my yard (usually a few c up on surrounding areas). An interesting day ahead I think - about time Nottingham got a proper lot of snow as we so often miss out.

Snowing heavily in Hereford at the moment from a small rogue shower ahead of the main band. Left a decent dusting really.

Excellent! According to the radar that rogue shower is coming my way so hopefully I will see my first snowflakes since Dec 2010 :)

    Eyes down look in people!

Hi Andy. What sort of height elevation does Leicester have? Or is it too low to be a factor in most events?

    Bish

Hi Bish, well areas around the City Centre vary from 50m ASL to around 120m ASL, where I live is 75m ASL, so it is classed as low ground.

Our weather station in Ashby-de-la-zouch recorded -9.8 last night!

-1.4 now, looking forward to later on. I'm on a hen do in Birmingham, so it could be interesting.
