It has been blowing a gale since 7.00am this morning and the wind caused the temperature to rise above freezing to reach 1.5 degreees celsius at around 10.00am. The ground is solid frozen, slight frost now melted. Current temperature is falling and close to zero. We still have a slight dusting of snow above 450 metres from last Sunday. Interestingly, the Clun Forest Hills, some 10 miles south west as the crow flies, had up to 5 cm of lying snow last Sunday. Currently slight rainfall, wet trace on the ground.

Even a few hours away, not getting my hopes up too much, been left disappointed too many times before. A period of snow does look nailed on, but how long before it turns to sleet/rain, hopefully my relatively high altitude helps, we shall see.

Currently -1.3 here near Solihull, with a DP of -5.9

Can somebody remind me, how far above zero can the temperature rise before snow becomes less likely? Not saying that it's likely to be an issue today, just wondering generally :)

Do have to wonder why places alot further east are already seeing ppn in the form of snow, when we've got a few drops of rain

Long time to go yet :good:

Bare in mind the coldest air is situated in the East, feeding off the European continent. Hence colder temps and why the front will begin to stall.
