5-10cm accumulations in the north east sector of the south west - BANK!

BANK!!

24 hours plus to go though - squeaky bottom time!

Ramp at the ready, but not quite wheeled into prime position!

Tonights NAE 18z run:

Interestingly, it keeps it as snow at midday Friday still across a good part of our region, albeit light snow!

Think this could be considered a slight upgrade compared to the 12z!

Looking good for Bristol and surrounding areas I would say...

Do you think this may stay as an "all-snow" event?...

Well, the NAE is less keen on it finishing as rain in some parts now so it could be, but as ever more runs needed really, and probably just waiting to the actual time!

It starts of as rain though, so cant technically be called an all snow event still!

Glad to see everyone is more upbeat now that there are some positive ppn forecasts coming through, however the usual caution must be taken with these predictions as they can be miles out.

Only 24 hours though, I would think the NAE should have it pretty close on now at that time frame! Its not like its at T240 etc! Lol! :drinks:

Agreed!

If this goes baps up at the last minute then i'm going to personally drag the Azores High right up to the South West approaches and get ready for an early warm Spring!

I wonder whether higher ground will get an all-snow event though...

It would also be nice if it stuck around for a day or two... Would be a bummer if it melted before Saturday!

Dont think its going to stick around long! Rain still forecast for Saturday, plus milder air this weekend!

This wasnt forecast a couple of days ago, so take it as a nice suprise and enjoy what you do get for however long you get it! Its better than nothing after all!

Very true! I really hope the temps for the weekend are being overcooked though... Highly unlikely at such a short timeframe but we can but wish!

It does turn it to rain eventually, but only very briefly at the end in northern and eastern parts, and very light rain too!

Im going to be up at 03.30 for work Friday morning, so I should hopefully enjoy a good few hours of snow! If you want to see the best time of the snow, then I advise:

ALL NIGHT LAMPOST WATCHING!

Ian F's forecast just now was pretty decent but the national one with Matt Taylor was OK but he did stress that main snow could be further east or west than he was currently showing.

Nowcast event for tom nite.

Stick with Ian, he's our number one! He knows what he is talking about, especially in situations like this!

Only in the last hour he has put tweets up continuing the forecast for snow in Northern and Eastern parts of the region, including Bristol area! Got to get through the 0z output first though!!

Met Office has max. temp. of 5ºc for me on Saturday... NetWeather has a max. temp. of 0ºc!

Hmmm, slight difference there!... I know which forecast I'm backing!!!

Have to say, he doesn't often let us down. And the NAE must surely be worth a punt at this range. Of course...the usual caveats, albeits and pear-shaped objects apply. At least the blummin' M4 corridor hasn't been mentioned......YET

Not such a quick thaw if that turns out to be the case! Fingers (and everything else) firmly crossed!

Surprised that NetWeather hasn't even issued a "Watch" yet for the Midlands / South West... :unknw:
