Snow?

Yeah, the temperature forecasts lately (on Met Office etc.) seem to be a wee bit "overcooked"!

Max. temp. in Bath today (Lansdown) was -1ºc...

Like you say, it can either be 4ºc and rain, or a few degrees lower with snow... Not 4ºc with snow!... Never known that before!

Oh my God... How quiet is the MOD thread?!... ;)

It's possible to snow at 4C if the dp and other factors are low enough, but it wouldn't settle.

We might be looking at the same lampost mate, I live in Frampton. :)

We're gonna get plastered :)

And just at the wrong time of year - they've started to turn most of the lampposts off after midnight. Now I'm all for that, being an astronomy geek and all, but when snow is on the cards.....NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I suppose anything is possible, but I've not experienced snow with temps. that high... I take it the dew points and 850's would have to be pretty low though for that?...

As things stand, Ian F seems confident and NAE is holding fast with 5-10cms for north east of our region. With your height down there, I'd think you could expect that as things currently stand.

So many toys have been thrown out of the pram that the Thames Barrier cannot stem the tide of displaced seawater.

Met office puts me in the high risk bracket for tommorow into friday, the darker shaded blue area by their guestimate will get 5-10cm from this stalling system.

Just woke and thought I'd have a quick gander- NAE Is upgrade for our region again, into Devon now and another nudge up on ppn totals...not any further west please (at this range that should be fine tbh)

Looks like a period of light rain and drizzle before any snow falls. The snow seems to have been put back. On the latest GFS, the snow dosent arrive until midday tomorrow! And before then its just rain.

Then onto Midday Friday.

prectypeuktopo.png

Then onto 15.00 Friday.

GFS usually pretty useless regarding precip details at this range, or indeed any range. Better off sticking with the NAE within 48hrs, and the NMM. Both the NAE on weatheronline and NMM on meteociel look good.
