GFS usually pretty useless regarding precip details at this range, or indeed any range. Better off sticking with the NAE within 48hrs, and the NMM. Both the NAE on weatheronline and NMM on meteociel look good.

Ok cool. Good to hear.

nae really is very very good for the sw, any further west and it will start to miss dorset, wilts and even bristol !

with less than 24 hrs it should pan out pretty well.

this is looking less like a rain/snow event and more like a snow event for all from start to finishl, the ones except to this will be cornwall, parts of coastal devon and parts of west devon.

precip amounts look like 2-5cms further west of the region, 5-10cms for most other areas. West somerset could get 15cms and the moors of devon maybe 20-25cms imho as the front stalls across this area giving 18hrs or so of moderate snow.

this could still change considerably still but a band of 10-12 hrs of snow looks likely.

Thanks for that Iceberg. I notice you kindly mention the moors of Devon, are you talking more about Exmoor rather than Dartmoor? I'm south Dartmoor and didn't think anything but rain was forecast for here! Would hate to get my hopes up yet again ;0)

Oh that's great news for some of us but if we are unlucky, I would love the rest of our region to get a good pasteing, don't see why the SE should always have the fun. Good luck in Dorset.

Lets face it, if December 2010 can only give 3cm here for the whole month, there's no hope for Friday here. :sorry:

I'm keeping everything crossed for Bournemouth but as those on the coast know its a knife edge at the best of times. Thank goodness I dont have work tomorrow! And no school run as they break up today. So can lamp post watch and then play in the white stuff!

Please don't get too excite Divaee. I am searching for evidence that we in Bournemouth/Poole will see some white stuff, but met office says 'no', NAE is maybe (notice big blue cell over Purbecks) and the GFS forecast is for rain. I am trying to keep grounded......hard though :)

What a cruddy forecast from local bbc this morning, only forecasting until 10pm tonight. What's that all about?

The charts tell me I am getting snow, every weather forecast in the world is telling me that my chance of snow if minimal, I think it was only a 50% ish on netweather.

I am confused.

I was sure last time that we would only see rain. This time I think we have more chance. Going to far west is the current issue.

I think it's about 60/40 that we get snow. Last week it was about 95/5 that we got rain lol. I won't be polishing up my sledge yet but you have to have a bit of faith and a hell of a lot of luck!

Better than that I think. 75/25. The wind coming off the sea is not the issue this time.

Look at my area for me Mullender please. I am currently wallowing in a snow show according to every weather site on the internerd.

Just saw a better forecast on local bbc which shows me in the middle of a big snowless hole. lol

Met office are really on the back foot for Bournemouth. We have gone from snow to sleet to rain to snow in an hour. Just checked again and it has turned into all snow from 9pm-3am.

Will be a long squeaky bum day for me lol.

Please note in my comments of last night - I didn't know Capello had resigned!!!

NAE loks great for Bristol and further south west - as Iceberg says - no revisions further west please! What we have now needs to be banked!

The METO BETA forecast for here says sleet from 9 tonight, turning to heavy snow round about midnight, carrying on until lunchtime Friday. Forecast temps rise to the dizzying heights of 2c Saturday afternoon before dropping back sub-zero again but rising to 4c on Sunday afternoon. That's for Holcombe so it should be pretty much the same for you.

I can see a play day coming up for Friday....

As those your sheep on the Mulberry site? They're very pretty.
