Main precip band in the N.Sea now taking a SSW direction, not be long before the energy starts transferring south and slightly westwards.

Snow getting heavier!!

Still snowing in Pickering but a lot lighter now. Cars and trees covered and settled on minor road. The drive home over the Wolds will be interesting!!

Any idea how long this will last? Its all moving quite quick on the radar, and looks nothing like the bbc forecast, which may be good

Lewis reckons we might get some better stuff later....

Gently snowing in Tickton!! Settling on decking and similar surfaces ie my fence that was blown down in the wind and is waiting to be taken to the tip!! Quite good sized flakes.

Rosedale

PS

Can Lewis have his quota increased, please, his reports are always worth a read, nice to see him back.

Any news about Brian from Castle Howard?

All that precipitation is definitely not going to reach W Yorks.. unless it takes a sudden SW turn, or rapidly expands

I think its going to be an 'oh so nearly' for Sheffield. Rotherham and surrounding area, just skimming to the east and were half way through the rain band now.

Got a good couple of inches at least here now. Looks like the stuff out to the East in the North Sea is pushing in from the North now so I expect we have an hour more of the heavy stuff at least. I wouldn't be surprised to see 10 cm reported on the high ground. The A171 north of Scarborough to Whitby is now blocked due to an accident at Cloughton Hill apparently.I mailed work and advised my colleagues to head home to Whitby early given how much was falling so hopefully they got through before then! :o
