Blooming cold in Bristol if nothing else! Also stopped raining now!

I'm feeling quite optimistic for my 3.30 alarm call actually, looking forward to it for once!

Otherwise it's a trip to Wiltshire tomorrow! Lol!

There's nothing wrong with being a pessimist, but I don't understand how people can say "Game over" and "This event is finished for me"?

I've been on this forum for nearly 5 years now, and when it comes to snow events, nothing surprises me anymore. As long as the potential is there, then I'm happy :)

Actually, you weren't. Reporting conditions would have been simply "it's raining" rather than the "Ground now soaked. This event finished for me. Any snow later will not settle".

Whilst I appreciate if someone is looking forward to snow and they get rain, it is disappointing but we're all in the same boat here. We may end up with a washout, we may not, the time to say 'game over' will be in the morning. There's absolutely no point in getting downbeat or putting a negative spin on everything. At the end of the day if we all just wanted to enjoy the snow we'd wait until it fell and be out playing in it, most, if not all the people on here enjoy the build-up and the excitement of will it, won't it - please don't quash that excitement with needless negativity.

Absolutely right!

Evening All

Report from Frome.... :-)

Nothing at the moment. Just had a quick read through the thread, so it seems it's been downgraded for tonight?? Shame really was potentially

looking forward to a day at home tomorrow. - hey ho.... :acute:

So not trying to be IMBY to much, but what are the chances tonight for

Frome? Any good?

GL all

Frome stands a good chance IMO! Actually you could argue it's an upgrade for Frome, more PPN and hopefully snow for you! The models are a downgrade for Western areas ( Ie Somerset and Bristol )!

Let's see what the radar brings us anyway, as I got a feeling it's going to pan out differently again!

Massive downgrade for some of our region, if you believe BBC news 24 weather. Just watched the one at 17.57.

Snow heads south from Midlands into Wilts and dorset - BTL area gets the dregs!

In fact it doesn't look as intense as it showed last night for anywhere! Damp squib! Defo!

Well, up here 15 miles N of Bristol it's still hanging around 2.5/2.6c it just ain't shifting at the moment and dewpoint has actually gone up 0.2c to 0.5c.

I really don't know about tonight to be honest. It seems to me that it's got much more marginal for my area.

Most of my local forecasts for S. Glos. have changed from what was snow this morning, to rain-sleet-rain.

Anyway, I don't want to be too pessimistic - hopefully as tonight progresses the picture improves.I will be watching that radar and snow reports closely!

Main band of ppn is a few miles away but we have had a few spits and spots of sleet so far really. I remain positive for later as it was always meant to fall as rain to start with.

fingers arms and legs crossed! :good:

I dont understand.

All the charts show the heavy PPN will be over wales / to the west of here. yet its all on the eastern side of the country??

How are the charts so massively off with this?

Temp 1.7C, DP -2.2C in Yeovil.

No rain yet here as the precip is currently slipping past to the west, but the greens and pinks are getting closer to the north-east on the NW radar, and even tho I'm only at about 70m asl that makes a massive difference :-D
