Met Office site showing Coleshill weather station in Birmingham reaching 17.3°C at 1pm today! What will 2pm bring?

No records to be broken in Eastbourne, but it is a stunning Spring like day - lets have more of them!

The wind is really spoiling the fun here. It is 14C, but we are now getting 40-50mph gusts. My next door neighbour has lost 4 ridge tiles, and the table and chairs in my garden have been scattered. I really didn't expect this at all!

I do like windy days, but it's a pity that its spoiling the warm temperatures. Able marble reported a 47mph gust at 13:00, but if anything it's been getting windier in the last hour.

Cloudy and rather misty spots of drizzle here in Carmarthen. Back home it was sunny and max 14.4c, though webcam shows its cloudy there now and 12c.

14.5°C here, I think the wind is preventing the temperature from climbing any higher. Albemarle down to 43mph gust though at 14:00, still v. windy here.

Well, a disappointing day to say the least, didn't feel warm at all, just very mild, but the mildly strong wind is not helping matters.. a little, incy wincy bit of sunshine a few moments ago but didn't even last a minute.. once again a case of wrong place wrong time, as is so common in this location whatever time of year

Anybody have the date records for the 29th Feb and 1st March? Uppers look high and the flow is much more favorable for sunshine.

well it was a record breaker for this site, 18.6C with the previous being 15.9C last year on the 26th.

For RAF Finningley the highest was 17.9C on 23 February 1990.

A bit of a contrast to the maximum in February in 1947 at 4.5C on the 28th.

Its clouded over again in the past hour, 7/8 shallow CuSc

Weatheronline showing a max of 19c for Coleshill near Birmingham. I suspect that is rounded up rather than rounded down but still very impressive.

And if we dont break the record today we can have another go at it next week.

temperatures are always rounded to the odd IF they fall on 0.5C thus 18.5C=19C and so does 19.5C-standard WMO practice.

values above 0.5C are always rounded to the nearest whole number when reporting in whole degrees.

So has the record of 19.7 definitely not been broken?

17.8C on the 29th February of 1948 and 1960

18,9C on the 1st March of 1959

A good chance that the ECWMF or GEM solutions would see those gone (GFS has cooler uppers).

Annoyingly the cloud has now all but cleared in the last half hour after being pretty much fully cloudy all day.

Damp. Grey. Misty. More damp. It felt like sitting in humid weather but without the actual heat. Sun tried to squeeze out a few times but got defeated. Max of 12.5c. Looking grey for the next few days to....

I was impressed with the fog though this morning. Thickest I've seen it for a while!! Was drifting in across the Severn Vale.
