13C so far with plenty of sunshine, but the strong winds are taking the edge off the warm temperatures as they are gusting 20-40mph across the NE today.

Them bloody southerners with their fancy cars and posh wine - if they want our water they should pay for it. When I was a boy....

Luckily, living in Cheshire, I don't have to worry about drought yet as our water is pumped from places that have plenty. Those just over the border in Staffs/Shrops however......

Yeah, don't think there'll be problems here despite only having around 455mm of rain last year, since it's been wet in the catchment areas of the rivers such as the Aire and Ouse etc. In fact the River Aire and Ouse are quite high.

Should be interesting watching the southeners having to use standpipes LOL

14C now and still sunny, but still very windy too. I was hoping today would feel even more pleasant than Tuesday, but apparently not.

Its already the warmest day since 14th February 1998 and 3rd warmest since 1981.

The temperature is currently 15.9C which feels rather strange so early, especially when its sunny too.

14.5°C, though the wind is slightly lower than before. I wouldn't say it is gusting to gale force now, but it is still pretty windy.

Temp 15.5c now, but with no sun and a sustained wind speed of 22.9mph, the windchill is 11.7!! Not very useful..

feels cold here, the max today was probably around 8c, kinda annoying how we always get colder temps in mild spells in just about every place in the uk :/ and the same for cold spells were always milder! its a weird old climate in cumbria

It felt cold today too.. the wind at one point was sustained at 27mph with a windchill of 7C, with temps of 14C and mostly cloudy. Very uninspiring weather, I'd actually rather have pouring torrential rain.

Eastern Cumbria is usually one of the coldest areas in cold spells though, and in summer heatwaves it isn't too bad, much better than NE England which is prone to sea fret.

Cumbria was definately the coldest part of england today. We have been plagued by low cloud all day with spits and spots of rain and light drizzle from time to time and maxima struggled to get above 11 degrees - a mild day but it still felt like winter. We suffer terribly from long fetch mild southwesterlies under warm sectors - the warm air rises over the fells and cools quickly producing the nasty low cloud and mist throughout the whole year - synoptics such as we have had today ruin a summer holiday in the Lake District whilst everyone else rejoices at the warm sunny conditions. We've seen not a glimmer of sunshine so far this week and tomorrow looks like another dull wet day - with a blue blob over the region. Hopefully the weekend may bring some brighter sunnier conditions.

The synoptics today are a carbon copy of what we had over christmas which brought equally dull drab weather.

A bit more windier than I originally thought it would be but it most certainly did feel very mild nonetheless. The sun did finally came out mid-afternoon before it clouded over again before sunset, not a bad day really.

Tuesday could be even warmer for us and perhaps slightly windy also as the isobars are a bit more spread out, how much sunshine there will be won't be known until the day itself really. I mean, its one of those sets up where if the cloud starts breaking then a sunny day could occur but if the cloud is reluctant to break then its very likely it will stay cloudy all day.
