Quote by Mullender from the locked thread ... "Well I am not feeling this 'BBQ' weather today! 9.2c cloudy fogy and drzzly! :bad: " ...

...

Has it cleared up there now Mullender? The last hour or so has seen the cloud disperse and lovely (warm) sunshine is now dominant.

It was always going to be a slow clearance as warm sectors have so much moisture allowing low cloud/drizzle etc, but the amount of sunshine has surprised me

given how relatively weak the sun still is - such a clearance is as I would have expected from late April onwards.

All in all very pleasant when I took the dog out for her lunchtime walk, the sun has dealt with the grey conditions of this morning much better than I thought it would.

Cool, grey and damp here - the Sun's a mythical creature not seen around these parts for a while.

haha I know how you feel, the fog and drizzle just about lifted but never saw any sun and I must say a max of 11.2 does not equate to BBQ weather for me!? :lazy:

Ive seen warmer days in january to be honest.

I must share the same climate as Mullender!

Definetly not T-Shirt weather here today! Cool and cloudy with occassional drizzle! But can't complain too much, it is only Feb! Plenty of time for warmth yet!

I just hope we don't use all our dry/HP influenced weather up in the next couple of months and end up with another mediocre summer again! Would prefer these sypnotics a few months later too be honest!

Another fine sunny day here and tbh a taster of this weather now means I cant really be bothered with winter as I want to get on with pottering around in the garden. Lets just write of winter 2011-12 as a bad 'un and hope next winter delivers the goods!

Are these threads staying for summer now?

I guess if they get used enough Beka, just keep posting!

How come I'm stuck under cool/cloudy/drizzly conditions again?? Not fair!

This better not be the start of a Bristol Sun Dome! Lol!

Your proximity to the Bristol Channel and the amount of moisture in the air! Possibly due to being downwind of high ground too.

Similar could happen in summer too ; last year on Sat 25 June a warm front moved through and it was forecast to turn sunny and very warm,

however the Bristol area (where I was all day that day) stayed cloudy, breezy and there was drizzle in the air while inland it cleared during the

afternoon.

Thanks for that! Seems like the Bristol Channel not only kills off convective potential, but also kills of sun potential!

Think a change in wind direction to a more Southerly, South Easterly could help brighten the skies IMBY!

Happy summer to all ...many thunderstorms and 35c ... actually scrap the 35c ... i'll be heavily pregnant by summer!!

Oooooh congrats Beka! x :yahoo:

Don't wish for heat when pregnant tho' - I had that problem in 1998 and I'm sure I melted a bit at some point!

Pleasant day today, not as warm as yesterday but I'm liking the warmer weather now & looking forward to a thundery summer (well I live in hope!)

An epic fog event is happening this side of the Channel. Jersey Airport has been in fog continuously,(with visibility less than 200 metres) for 58 hours so far and no sgn of a lift yet. Guernsey Airport much the same, with a lift for just an hour yesterday afternoon.

Air passengers are not too happy and heading for the ferries, but everyone has the same idea so they are full, which is almost unheard of in the winter.

The pleasures of living on an island - even one with good air and sea links.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
