Nice to see this was heard in Birmingham and Malvern now. They were right overhead here twice. The word going round is that it was Eurofighter Typhoons.

The sound is no where near as loud as it was for real mind!!!

It's deafening when overhead! :o They used to fly round here quite often, you could be on the Hills and they'd actually be level or below where you're walking, and very close! Or flying out across Herefordshire or towards Clee Hills. The past year they haven't been out round here too often, possibly budget cuts? Sometimes they do a night-time exercise, say around 6-8 pm-ish, they did one of those a couple of weeks ago, not too close to the Hill here (although they might fly right across us to get there), but further out across Herefordshire. I did notice they seem to prefer flying on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Friday afternoons. Random trivia! B) With the Olympics coming up, I expect we'll see more of them, or rather, hear more!

As for today's weather, couldn't be more different from yesterday, overcast, windy, temp around 6oC, quite murky to start.

Im even too far north for typhoon fighters!

Yep, Ian Brown said so, widespread heavy outbreaks of typhoon fighters for all of the west midlands.....apart from Stafford & Stoke....lol

....and today, miserable out there, showery rain, overcast & chilly...still, should brighten up this afternoon

Also very cloudy here with the ground quite wet. Suppose the plants kinda need a drink anyway. They must be really thirsty after how relatively dry it has been in the last 12 months or so. Looks like the 00Z GFS still going for a rather dry outlook with most weather fronts looking as though they would go to the North of us and leave the Midlands untouched. So it's not only snow shields that have been hard to break, but it looks like our rain shields are getting stronger, too, with the exception of today's rain, and that rain, sleet and snow which occurred on Sunday. Tis a bit worrying that if we continue dry like this it could just lead to 'The Summer of Nightmare'. Just hope we can get the Summer we've all dreamed for with a mixture of weather to please us Midlanders. And also some great big monstrous thunderstorms. :D

the winds are really picking up now that the front has passed through.

Rain to me is vital as I live on the canals. There are already restrictions and closures further south due to disastrously low reservoirs and no real rain for 18 months.

Cool! As I write I can hear more jets somewhere in the vicinity, so they're practising again today.

Heheh. Yep, just saw a Typhoon out the window to my west, heading north towards Clee Hill. Not the windy type, the metallic sort. :D It has cleared up nicely here, still windy but sunny, although quite nippy in the wind.

, Possibly even worse than that.

Was all going off where I was today. Hail showers (stones the size of peas) and a [spotted] Eurofighter Typhoon doing the rounds... thought the world was coming to an end.

The West Midlands is where its all at right now isnt it. :D

Think the weather must have hated me today. When going out filming with my College Media group it was cool and a little bit windy. But then that wind really started to make everywhere feel chilly. And then we got attacked by hail stones and sleety looking rain. One good thing was we got practically all the filming done just as it started to hail, so I guess maybe the weather did have a bit of a heart today. Was also admittedly fun watching the hail fall even though they hammered over our heads.

Unfortunetly did not hear the Typoon Jets today - may have been a bit too far East. Or not been paying attention. Would have been interesting to hear how loud they were though.

what will probably happen yet again next week is that it will start of dry and sunny over england with high pressure, then as fronts try to get in from the northwest later in the week, all we will get is an annoying legacy of cloud that will block out the sun and spoil the weather. happens nearly most of the time :wallbash:

so predictable why do i bother with this hobby

Sadly it will be too cloudy tonight for any possible Northern Lights. Typical when its been relatively clear of late! No jets today from what I can gather.

Looks like it could start warming up in the next few days for the Midlands, especially next week as the GFS program's High-Pressure to track to the East pulling in some warm air from the South-West/South. Temperatures could reach between 15 - 17*C early next week, with perhaps the odd 18*C too. Though the sunnier, the better this can be achieved. Still looks rain-free for at least the next 7 days, or so, though expect changes still to be had.

As for today, currently a mixture of cloud and some sunny spells. Does feel a bit cool out their in the wind, but still seems to be turning out to be a reasonable day, nevertheless. Some daffodils really starting to show their star-shaped flowers now. Really adding to the Spring-feel of the weather and nature. :)

Typhoon alert! One just flew overhead here. :o

Weather's horribly grey, overcast and windy, not terribly pleasant, but it is at least not too cold.

Was quite warm when the sun appeared for a bit around lunchtime. Should be pleasant after the weekend. 15-19c I expect.

GFS 12z is another bone dry run again throughout.
