Went for a walk a few hours ago, was quite surprised at just how deep the snow is in places. The heaviest fall here since January 2010.

Garden, a bit of a shock to the spring buds !

If I had the cash I'd buy the house; just so I could experience snow like that every winter!

Aye, it can be a bit grim sometimes up here when it's July and 13c and blowing a gale whilst other places are 20c and nice, but days like today make up for it !

That's a good winter snowfall let alone April.. seeing pictures like these makes me jealous of Pennine dwellers! I think I'd miss the summer heatwaves though, when was the last time you exceeded 30c? :-(

You're right Aaron, we have a party up here when we get 25c ! The sun came out briefly this evening so I took a few pics from the backgarden looking across to Holme Moss and beyond:

And I don't know how well this will work, but here's a short clip from this morning walking along one of the nearby lanes:

Wow, excellent photos there. Indeed, snowfall like that wouldn't be too shabby on the 4th January let alone the 4th April even in the Pennines! All the more welcome after last weeks record breaking Summer like conditions!

Im not sure of the exact temps but i know we reached or very nearly reached 30c last October of all times! but point taken though, before then we had only had about 2 days of 25c in the whole of summer 2011 and the last half summer 2010, as for todays snow, we got nowhere near what other pennine areas got but still a decent fall and a good 8 hours continous snowfall, pity it melted quickly but still a belter for April, the most i have experienced in an April ever, i was alive in April 81 but too young to remeber it.

Lol how often does it get beyond 30 in Leeds?

Great photos, the roads were terrible this morning!

I'm a little bit envious but I still like my 30C in the summer - in contrast to this last Friday afternoon we went down to Valras Plage and dipped our toes in the Med - the temperature was not that much short of 30C.

On the way back to UK noticed that some of the higher summits in the Massif were still snow covered.

More often then you think - we reached 30C in Leeds last year during that two day heat snap in June

Before then, we reached 31C in July 2008, believe it or not. Bearing in mind our record temperature is 34.4C, higher then places further south too.

Great pics, very similar conditions here but then we are at about the same height asl. I have posted some pics on the Northern England regional thread, although they are not as good quality as they are video stills rather than photographs.

Two days above 30? give me early 20's and 8ft snow drifts any day! variety is the spice of life, i love living in the pennines(near pennine ten foot drifts) as we literally get it all, the contrasts between here and near by towns and cities is incredible.
