Big rumble of thunder here in Solihull, and the second heavy downpour of the day so far.

Same. Had had some quite big hail, too, which I admit I wasn't expecting. :)

There does seem to be a trend at least for an increase in pressure to start May, it's just going to be a case of hoping it doesn't end up to far south and provide the trademark slate grey murk Telford loves so much  e.g GFS 06z.

This week looks rather grim again, these showery setups get rather boring 20 hail showers later especially when its just cold and grey inbetween them still.

It produced nothing more than steady rain for a while unfortunately

The rain action today looks like it's staying south. Probably another dryish day.

Yes, it's actually quite pleasant at the moment. Hazy sunshine and some broken cloud, although the breeze is rather chilly.

A Dry, pleasant and mostly sunny day at last! :D

One of the few and first places to see a proper dry day since all this shower spell started. :D

This is the storm that we were on the edge of (unfortunately), we were travelling and was hit with huge hail stones and lightning. Shrewsbury btw, we were heading towards Telford.

Tony from UKWW Forums has the West Midlands region under a special box for the concentration of Sferic activity tomorrow. biggrin.png

Lets hope he is right! biggrin.png Certainly doesnt look like most of the East will see much activity for a change. blum.gif

He's usually quite good. Though he has to be wrong about tomorrow as I'm in the same box as you :p

After tomorrow, a small risk of something on Wednesday but more so on Thursday and it also looks like there will be a moderate amount of shear around so some longer lasting cells and organisation is possible - something that is yet to happen this year. :D

Tomorrow will have next to no shear though so very short lived cells again but still for those who catch a storm, they will be potent with hail likely also.

yes, the guys over on MetServ & the UKASF are quite keen on shower/thunderstorm development over the midlands today and into this evening...Shallow convection has already initiated here, but again with the lack of shear it's a 'blink and you'll miss it' affair with regards to sferic activity, updrafts will build and then die quickly leaving residual rain showers

Everything looks to the west and a little to the east today. Going to be later afternoon/early evening if we get anything here and it looks as though the sun coming out might be required to boost convections rates.

Models dont forecast much until late afternoon so lots of time left yet. :D

I think the north Midlands will be the place to be this afternoon....winds look set to converge around 4 through the evening. Places like Telford, Shrewsbury and across towards Staffs could do well in a bit.

In the west midlands, we could be in for quite a splash according to the NAE.
