Clear periods and most likely a ground frost last night.

Sunny intervals and a couple of showers this morning, then dry with sunny periods pm, moderate west to NW breeze.

Missed the prolonged heavy showers this morning that gave 20mm plus just inland from Aberystwyth this morning, and again missed the heavy showers crossing Carmarthenshire this evening.

Like yesterday we were spared any real downpour today. The Pennines appearing to act as barrier. Quite surprised no homegrown showers were generated over the fells especially under the lengthy sunny spells providing lots of energy.

Tomorrow is likely to deliver more showers I imagine and Sunday. Indeed I don't think we have had a single dry day this month so far.

In the sunshine and light winds it did fell quite pleasant, unlike recent days which have had a very chilly feel.

Temperatures this weekend will remain low for the time of year, only just making it into double figures, we saw many milder days during the first half of January than we have seen this month.

    • Wet March so far with more rain for the rest of the month, but hints of more settled weather early April

It's been a wet March for much of the UK, with well above average rainfall, though the Northern & Western Isles have been drier than average. Despite a colder drier respite on Monday, staying generally unsettled to see out the rest of the month. But hints of some drier weather in early April. Read the full update here
