1st Chase Day Proper for the Tour 3 Guys so we will be heading NW On Highway 287 towards Amarillo, there is a very weak risk of Thunderstorms in the area so we will kill 2 birds with one stone and probably eat at the Big Texan and hope some Storms trundle South East towards AMA For some Lightning Photography, if anything goes severe as we arrive in the area we will give chase tomorrow evening.

Tom and John have some Videos to put up in a mo, a kind of meet and greet some of the members on this tour.

Some good CAPE figures beginning to show, depending where you look they are suggesting 2500-3800 CAPE in NE NM. To the SW things are already triggering. Lets go chasing..

I blew it!

After leaving Oklahoma city at 08:00 for Day 1 of my solo chase I targeted upslope flow into the Raton Mesa of NW New Mexico. My target was Clayton, NM. I took the short route via the OK panhandle and guess what - no mobile internet signal!!!

I paused at Boise City due to an east to West outflow boundry that I thought may kick off convection. The HRRR showed a tank of a supercell forming at Clayton at 20z but no storm formed?

Instead they were all forming on the mountains and then dieing when coming off the high terrain. After watching this process for hours I decided to target a cell that had formed on tyhe lower trarrain West of Johson city - as ~I got there it died!

Looking at the radar I then could see a tornado warned cell West of Armarillo but I was too far north and west to re target onto it - Paul did you get it ?

Since I have followed the chase teams via webcam this has been the best ever for me. The lightning has being going nuts, looked like a battlefield scenario with flashes everywhere, must be bril to see it live.............tour 3 getting their monies worth!

Hi Stuart, we were on that cell from when it was born! Pretty sure we saw a cone tornado form in the rain and then lift, headed west to get a better look and had to core punch some decent hail, the road was covered and made driving a bit difficult :D

Dropped south and saw amazing meso structure and ended up in the bears cage a couple fo times, lightning was awesome and still is :D

Glad it held out Dallas, it was pretty intense and still ongoing :D

Off to Amarillo to grab some food and then I think we're going heading north :)

Yep it produced a cone tornado, good catch guys - I have already seen the picture of it on another USA forum - but sorry I can't repost the image here for public view :(

I am in Lamar (North of you) we should try and hook up tomorrow at some point as I would like to chase with you all on Wednesday (If you will have me)along - looks like a I80 in central / Western Nebraska.
