Moon At 3% Phase

    The earliest I've managed to see and photograph the Moon to date. 3% illuminated and coming just 48 hours after New Moon and the Annular Eclipse seen across the Pacific rim.

    Moon at this time was 44.5hrs old and at a phase of 0.032, thanks to popastro for the info.

    Nice photo!

    In April 2010 I spotted a slither of a crescent moon at about 9pm on the 15th, about 33 hours after the new phase began. The photo quality's not that great, but you can easily see the moon along with Venus: http://img814.images...2/dscf0023w.jpg
