Yes it was a cool day for September. I remember Sept 1993 being very wet and consistently cool coming on the back of a cold dull summer. It came in the middle of a notably cool period, culminating on the very cold weather of late Nov 1993 and for the north the cold weather continued through much of December. Its been a long long time since we saw a cool wet September. In many recent years Sept has been an extension of summer, often with temps much better than those experienced in the peak summer period. Thinking ahead I have a feeling this autumn will be a notably wet one, and a chilly one.

Yes, September has been a delight these past few years, thankfully. This hasn't always set off a dry and mild theme for the following Autumn, though

A maximum of 7.8c here that day, the lowest in September in 35 years of records. The 27th in 1974 was colder but I was recording at a different site then.
