In just 4 day's the Wimbledon tennis championships get underway and this years even looks like been a mixed one

The Wimbledon tennis tournament is likely to be hit by frequent rain as June's poor weather continues, forecasters have warned.

There will be a sunny start to the first day's play on Monday, but wet weather will persist through both weeks of the event.

Organisers will be cheered by predictions that the rain will be interspersed with sunny spells.

A Met Office spokesman said: "What we are likely to see is a mix of the weather we have seen recently - on the dry side and relatively sunny with one or two rogue showers around, but interspersed with periods of cooler and wetter weather."

Nice week ahead for wimbledon, hardly any rain at all for southeasterners all week, the rain later in the week looks like quickly moving through wales into northern england, south midlands also very dry, like i said a summer pattern is now setting itself up, summer for midlanders and the southeast, more mixed further north and west.

    Wimbledon Outlook

Few interruptions early next week for Wimbledon. Some light rain or drizzle late Tuesday and early Wednesday the main risk. Very warm and humid Wednesday and Thursday, and the risk of a heavy shower or thunderstorm by late afternoon on Thursday which could stop play. The week should end a lot fresher and mainly dry.

Wimbledon's centre court roof is likely to be closed several times next week with the way things are looking at the moment

Looks like play could be interrupted today at Wimbledon by around 3pm (except Centre Court) because of rain, if the forecast is anything to go by.

The men might not get all of their scheduled matches out of the way today. The women may possibly be able to get all of their matches played though.

Play starts at 1pm on Courts 1, 2 & 3, so they should be able to get the first of the scheduled women's matches completed, because unless they're epic battles, they should be out of the way in less than 2hrs. Radwanska/Giorgi and Clijsters/Kerber may be able to sneak in before the rain if the women's match preceding them are straight-forward matches.

The lucky ones (apart from Ivanovic/Azarenka under Centre Court) are the two womens matches on Court 12. Play starts there at 11:30am, and both matches will probably get in before the rain.
