Yup seems very soggy here and certainly is the wettest April to June period we've recorded. Strange for a news paper to get it right for once. Just need daily mail to come up with Monsoons will occur every year headline now.

I'd have thought the global warming disciples will be using that line and saying how it's all our fault.

I live just north of London in Hertfordshire and it looks like we have missed out on a lot of the rain because we have only had 234.6mm over the 3 months but obviously it is still just under double the average for the 3 month period which is 128mm so still very wet and here it has been more about the cool, damp, sunless days, we are really pushed to get any sun in a day here because it has just been that dismal...

Leave it out, it does not disprove it one way or the other but a parochial approach considering just our small corner of the world doesn't help - in the US for example they have had record breaking heatwaves in March, April, May and June.

Only June the notably wet month here, the total of 397mm for the 3 months being very high but not unusual.

Certainly a very cool and wet period bar late May.

With July looking to start off on a wet first third the question must be asked...

What is the wettest April-July period on record?

What is the wettest May-July period on record and where do we stand?

2007 unsurprisingly but the May of 2007 was a lot wetter than May 2012 so unless we get an amazingly wet July, I think that record is fairly safe for the moment.

When you opened this thread i failed to respond because it considered it sensationalist. With that said, having viewed the model developments in recent days (and tonights are horrific for summer heat) the answer to the thread title is a resounding... Yes.

My rating for June is 1/10....says it all. Wretchedly cool, dull and wet. No thunder heard and no days where the temperature reached 25c. Dire. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Sadly July has begun in the same crap manner. Hows your olive crop doing Mr Giles?nea.gif

Summer usually begins around 5-10th September, which is usually when the monsoon season ends and the kids go back to school.

We've managed to make hay every year since forever, and that requires at least 2 or 3 mainly dry days together,

A few times none has been done until late July but it has always been done eventually.

Last month was the UK's wettest June since records began in 1910, provisional Met Office figures show.

It was the second record-breaking month of rainfall this year, with April also topping the rankings. The period from April to June is also the wettest recorded for the UK.

June was also the second dullest on record with 119.2 hours of sunshine, narrowly missing out on the record of 115.4 hours set in 1987.

There were a few days of nice summer weather to be had in June but other than the two or three days it was really poor, really, really poor. Seems all the good weather was quarantined in March this year for this summer is turning out to be poor.

Nowhere near the wettest here, that accolade still belongs to June 2007 with over 280mm of rain.
