Much better day than expected, with a lot of sunshine this evening. Warm and humid.

Tomorrow though Summer 2012 reverts to type...

Going by what the local TV stations are saying here, some places around here could get over 100mm during tomorrow with most places expecting around 25-40mm. Considering towns like Goole flooded today following one heavy shower we could be looking at even worse flooding tomorrow. Who ever decided to give us a hose pipe ban back in April look pretty foolish now as we have had nothing but rain ever since.

It's certainly going to be interesting tomorrow if the threatened deluge comes off.

There are already many northern rivers on flood warnings and with the ground so wet, it won't take much for more flood misery.

I didn't think i'd see the "worst for 50 year floods" of 2 weeks ago repreated so soon but it's looking likely now.

It was interesting and rather worrying that even a 15 minute downpour earlier this evening lifted a large chunk out of the pavement across from our house.

It's now another water feature to add to the several on the same 20 metre stretch.

Skies dark here and muggy feeling but looking at the radar my area seems to be between the worst of the heavy thundery stuff going on to the north and south. Something particarly nasty looking just travelled over the peak district.

Not looking good that the worst of tomorrows heavy rain has got the north west cards marked once again.

Storms just to the S and W of Sandhutton but no real chance of any here- but notably warm, it was 23C earlier. I'd been hoping to see rather more than one day like this- tomorrow looks like being a total washout although Saturday might bring a temporary return to sunshine, storm potential and comparitive warmth.

Been a decent day here in north Cheshire also. But before tomorrow, looks like we've got something incoming for both our areas this evening first.

Looking highly likely that Cumbria will escape the worst of the rain tomorrow (thank god) as the county will escape any flooding worries. Nothing enjoyable about that.

Odd day in the fact that northern england was the warmest part of the country - it seems the warm air has settled over us in the last 24 hours and it has felt very muggy indeed - with little wind about there is nothing to stir the air.

We did well today, was forecast heavy thundery downpours and apart from the last hour or so we stayed dry with some very decent lengthy sunny breaks and with temps into the low 20's it will go down as quite possibly the most 'summery' day of the summer so far - so yes a bit of a surprise.

The BBC suggest southern parts of the region will see the heaviest rain tomorrow with the hull and sheffield areas across to the Peak District and into Cheshire, South Manchester regions worse affected. Saturday is forecast to bring heavy rain to NE England, but the position of the front at this stage remains uncertain.

It will be a case of nowcasting, I am expecting sudden developments to take place in the next 12 hours or so - and no-one knows for sure how intense the rainfall will be at this stage. Expect the news tomorrow evening to be filled once again with reports of flash flooding in many places.... N Wales looks primed for some exceptional rainfall totals as the front slams up against the eastern upslopes of snowdonia, the Peak District could also be a prime candidate for highest precipitation levels as a result. If the frontal assault was progged to be 100 miles further north then it would be the Yorkshire Pennines and Lake District suffering the most....

I hope we don't see the scenes of last thursday..

The models are ridiculous right now.. NAE takes it through the Midlands, GFS keeps it a northern England event and HIRLAM has gone from delivering the heaviest rain to the south, to the heaviest rain in the North!

So much inconsistency.. but which will be right? NAE hasn't been performing very well recently.. but we'll wait and see

Well that storm fizzled out pathetically for the south of Warrington - was looking lively as it crossed into Cheshire from the Peak District.

Looks like the GFS was correct and the NAE wrong, the heaviest rain is right over us here. Hopefully this wont be like June 2007 and sit over us all day. Its pretty heavy at the moment.
