Been a boring uneventful year for weather here so far but we do have a very heavy shower currently, thank you France.

Heavy in Reigate. Not only that - it's raining as well.

The soft but insistent swirl of the dishwasher is mingling with the sounds of the downpour and the tyres of the cars as they splash down the road. Water everywhere (apart from in the hosepipe obviously, which is still forbidden). It really feels, sounds and smells like Autumn - conkers at dawn, anyone?

Appearance of hail is usually a good indicator to the chance of lightening - bit unscientific but has worked for me before ;-)

Worked with the one we had at lunchtime. Caning it down, but as soon as the hail started...bang!

Actually it's slowed down a bit now John, still some feeding in off the Channel but nothing like that lump that's just gone through, still intensifying, next stop London.

Tomorrow actually looks the best day of the last 5 for us down in the South East, finally have some good wind vectors and showers and thunderstorms should be a plenty in the SE, Risk of some stronger Thunderstorms as well around the 15-18z timeframe for the Sussex's, Kent, Surrey and the London area as well.
